Charity 'Fun Runs' Help People Make a Difference This Season

Nonprofit organization Charity Guide highlights opportunities for volunteers to make a difference through Charity Fun Runs.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 4, 2006 -- As the days lengthen and the temperature rises in Chicago, area residents look for opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Nonprofit organization CharityGuide.org highlights ways people can do just that while simultaneously making a difference through a charity fun-run.

“Fun Runs” and competitive races offer a variety of options for participants, including competitive 5K or 10K races and non-competitive runs and walks, including opportunities to bring along your pet. These events are a great way for charities to raise money and awareness among non-traditional donors.

Volunteers are needed for as little as a few hours for each event. Activities may include stuffing and distributing race packets, registering guests, set-up and take-down of the course, handing out water to runners and shouting encouragement at the finish line.

Charity Guide highlights opportunities for busy people to participate in a “Fun Run” as a runner, walker, wheeler, or volunteer on its Web site at www.charityguide.org/volunteer/fewhours/fun-runs.htm. Suggestions for finding a fitting “Fun Run” charitable cause and time include checking the directories at The Running Network or Active.com, looking for listings in local newspaper or Internet entertainment guides, or using Internet search engines such as Google or Yahoo.

Charity Guide is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting flexible volunteerism, by inspiring and facilitating acts of kindness. For more information about Charity Guide and opportunities to make a difference, please visit our Web site at www.charityguide.org.
